ORMOC CITY– Investigators from the local Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) are probing the cause of a fire that destroyed five houses late Saturday evening, November 9, in Zone 2, Guindapunan, Barangay Caray-Caray, Naval, Biliran.

The blaze started around 11:31 pm.

The BFP identified the affected homeowners as Francis Montes, Adelina Campus, Benito Sabornido, Genera Leones, and Nora Quijano, all residents of the same barangay.

The fire spread quickly due to the combination of concrete and light materials used in the construction of the houses, engulfing an area of approximately 375 square meters.

The fire, which was initially raised to First Alarm Level, was brought under control by 12 midnight and was fully extinguished at 12:28 a.m. on Sunday, November 10. A fire truck from the Almeria BFP assisted the local fire department in suppressing the flames.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The estimated damage is valued at around P562,500.
