ORMOC CITY-Six people aboard a motorboat were rescued after their vessel ran out of fuel in the seawaters off Barangay San Francisco, Sulat, Eastern Samar.
The rescued individuals were identified as alias “Aldo,” 54, and pump boat operator; alias “Magno,” 46; alias “Anilyn,” 43; alias “Mathew,” 2; alias “Merabel,” 4; and alias “Mark,” 17.
All are residents of Brgy Carolina, Can-avid town also in Eastern Samar.
The police reported that around 9:35 am on Saturday (June 29), their station received information that six persons had been rescued by the rescue team of the Sulat Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO).
An investigation conducted by the local police revealed that the group was heading towards Sulat for a beach outing when their motorboat ran out of fuel.
Anilyn decided to swim to the shore of Brgy. San Francisco to seek help and successfully contacted the Sulat DRRMO for rescue. The rescued individuals were brought to the Sulat DRRMO, all safe and without injuries.
The MDRRMO of Can-avid later fetched the rescued the persons and escorted them back to their residences.
