TACLOBAN CITY – Abenson, one of the country’s leading appliance and gadget retailers, has opened its first flagship store in Eastern Visayas and second in the entire Visayas region, located in Tacloban City.
The store, which formally opened for business last December 13, spanning over 1,000 square meters, is situated along the national highway in the Marasbaras district. It offers a wide array of appliances, computers, and gadgets, catering to the needs of local consumers and those from nearby areas.
According to Ronald Jabines, market development manager for the Visayas-Mindanao (VisMin) area, Tacloban was a strategic choice for their expansion.
“Tacloban has a market. By opening a flagship store here, we expect to serve not only Tacloban residents but also customers from adjacent localities,” he said.
As part of their growth strategy, Abenson is eyeing further expansion within the region.
“Our major consideration is the market itself. There should be development so we can offer the most in-demand appliances,” Jabines explained.
The company is currently exploring potential locations in Ormoc City, first-class municipalities in Leyte, and other parts of the Samar provinces for future stores. Similar to their approach in Tacloban, Abenson plans to acquire properties for construction in these areas.
Beyond providing quality appliances, Abenson’s presence in Tacloban contributes to local job creation.
The store employs 35 company staff, alongside partners who handle services such as delivery and appliance installation.
