ORMOC CITY—A newly identified drug peddler, listed as a street-level individual (SLI) by the police’s drug watchlist, was apprehended during a buy-bust operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Team around 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, in Barangay Candadam, Baybay City.

The suspect, identified as alias “Bonsam”, 41, a construction worker and resident of the said barangay, was arrested after selling a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover operative for P500.

During the body search, conducted in the presence of law-mandated witnesses, authorities recovered another sachet of suspected shabu wrapped in paper from the suspect’s pocket, along with the P500 marked bill used in the transaction.

The suspect now faces charges for violations of Section 5 (selling illegal drugs) and Section 11 (possession of illegal drugs) under Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He is currently detained at the Baybay City Police Station while awaiting further legal proceedings.
