TACLOBAN CITY-The Tacloban City District Engineering Office has successfully completed the construction of a flood control structure along the waterway in Barangay Palanog, Tacloban City.

This project is designed to bolster defenses against flooding and soil erosion, issues that are caused by typhoons and heavy rainfall, posing significant risks to local residents.

This P110.8-million project, funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2023, aims to enhance flood control measures in the area and minimize potential damage from flooding. By providing a robust flood barrier, it will protect communities and safeguard properties and livelihoods.

The construction includes a 656-meter-long revetment made of stone masonry with concrete facing, specifically designed to protect the community from the severe impacts of typhoons and heavy rains.

District Engineer Rebecca G. Yuse emphasized the project’s importance, stating, “This flood control project is important for addressing flood issues caused by typhoon and intense rainfall. It will not only protect residents and their homes but also safeguard the environment they live in.”
