TACLOBAN CITY – Athletes from Catbalogan City are aiming to improve their performance in this 2024 Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association(EVRAA), the biggest regional sporting event of the Department of Education (DepEd) hosted by Ormoc City from May 5 to 10.
To inspire the athletes, the city government headed by Mayor Dexter Uy turned over assistance to the young athletes providing them uniforms, duffle bags, shoes and socks, water tumblers, medicine kits with vitamins and supplements, hygiene kits, umbrella, ID jacket and lanyard.
“Natuod ako nga an atun mga athletes kaya makiglaban didto ngan natuod ako nga magdadaug kamo,” Mayor Uy said as he led the sending off of the athletes last Thursday( May 2).
“Natuod ako nga iyu pagdudumaraon an ngaran han Catbalogan nga with pride and confidence knowing nga aadi ha iyu liyo an mga Catbaloganon nasulodo ngan nag-aampo ha iyo pagdarag-an,” the city mayor added.
A total of 477 delegates members of the “Katbalaugan Warriors” from the Catbalogan City DepEd schools division are now in Ormoc City to participate at the EVRAA 2024.
Catbalogan is aiming to improve their performance by clinching more medals particularly gold medals in various sports competitions of EVRAA.Last year, Catbalogan clinched two golds, five silvers, and 16 bronze, landing in the 13th place in the ranking.
