ORMOC CITY– Local police are conducting a thorough investigation over the identity and motive in the killing of their fellow cop who was shot dead at about 11: 30 pm on Friday (Aug. 11) in Road 18, Phase 1, Narcisa Subdivision, Purok 6 of Barangay Rawis, Calbayog City.
Police identified the victim as Police Staff Sergeant Ray Alcazar,46, and temporarily assigned in Calbayog City Police Station and a resident of Brgy. 7-3, Tres De Abril St. in Cebu City.
Initial investigation conducted by local police disclosed that the victim had just come from a drinking session with several friends when he decided to go to his rented house in the said subdivision.
The victim was boarding his vehicle when the suspects suddenly came around and shot him several times with the use of a .45 caliber pistol, hitting him on the different parts of his body with a fatal shot on his head which resulted in his instant death.
The local police immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation against the suspect/ suspects whose escape vehicle was not known going in an unknown direction and failed.
The victim’s cadaver was immediately brought to a local funeral parlor for autopsy and post-mortem examination.
