TACLOBAN CITY– Police Col. Noelito Getigan, who was previously assigned as the chief of the Regional Operations Division of the Philippine National Police(PNP) regional headquarters assumed the post as police director of Tacloban in a ceremony on Wednesday, Oct.16.

Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez, who is also the chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council, graced the turnover ceremony presided by B/Gen. Jay Reyes Cumigad, the police regional director.

Getigan replaces Col. Michael Palermo.

In his speech, Getigan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and acknowledged the challenge of building on the achievements of his predecessor.

“It is an honor to take on the role of city director, and I am committed to continuing the progress made by PCOL Palermo. I see this new responsibility as both a challenge and a motivation to strive for even greater accomplishments for the benefit of Tacloban,” he said.
For his part, Palermo praised the officers and staff of the Tacloban city police for their dedication and teamwork during his two-year tenure as their city director.

“I am deeply grateful for the commitment and passion of the police force here in Tacloban. My time with this unit has been a remarkable journey filled with valuable experiences and lessons that I will cherish forever,” he said.

Palermo was assigned at the PNP regional headquarters as chief of the Regional Community Affairs Development Division.

B/Gen. Cumigad expressed confidence in Getigan’s leadership, stating that the new city director’s experience and dedication would ensure the continuation of the unit’s successful initiatives.
