GOVERNMENT CENTER, PALO,Leyte– The DOH-EVCHD led the first administration of the bivalent COVID-19 vaccines in the region last June 30, 2023 at the DOH Treatment and Rehabilitation Center – Dulag.
Offered to eligible populations who have received the 2nd booster dose, the bivalent COVID-19 vaccines are now available as a 3rd booster dose against COVID-19 and the Omicron variant.
Ten health care workers at the DOH-TRC-Dulag were the first to receive the supplementary vaccines.
The inoculation was participated by national immunization program coordinators— Ma. Elena Joy Villarosa and Chiradee Claridad, health education and promotion officer III— Maria Rosario Juntilla, and communications management unit head Jelyn Malibago.
As this was only the initial launch of the bivalent COVID-19 vaccines, a larger scale rollout will soon be implemented by health facilities across the region as an additional protection for health care workers and the A2 population or the seniors, and to ensure that there will be no resurgence of a rise in COVID-19 cases in the region.
