TACLOBAN CITY– The Department of Tourism (DOT) here in the region has officially launched the “Kanta Binisaya” choral competition.
The said competition intends to honor and showcase the musical heritage of the region.
As stated by DOT-8, the competition is open to all school-based, community-based, church-based, office-based, or mixed choral groups inside and outside Region 8.
It was reported that eight entries will advance to the grand finals to be held on June 11, 2024.
A total of P100,000 will be received by the grand champion; P80,000 for the 2nd placer; P60,000 for the 3rd placer; and P20,000 as a consolation prize.
The best conductor will also receive P10,000; and P5,000 pesos for the Best OPM choreography.
Each grand finalist will receive a subsidy worth P 20,000 aside from the DOT Eastern Visayas prize.
