TACLOBAN CITY– The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional office kicked off the year 2024 with a bang as they held their first sports activity on March 12, 2024.

The event, which took place at the DPWH Equipment Management Division (EMD) compound, was a badminton tournament that brought together the employees a day of fun and healthy competition.

“This is an excellent team-building activity for the employees. It will foster a sense of unity among the employees and encourage them to balance between work and a healthy active lifestyle. This is a promising start to the year and set the tone for successful sports activities in the future,” said Assistant Regional Director Ma. Margarita C. Junia.

The kick-off event was led by Junia, division chiefs, and assistant division chiefs with DPWH IV-B (MIMAROPA) Regional Director Gerald Pacanan as guest of honor.

The event started with a zumba workout participated by the competing employees from eight divisions including the office of the director of DPWH Regional Office VIII.

The event will feature three categories: Inter-Division Category, Individual Category and Kids Category held every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 pm to 8 pm at EMD Compound Pawing, Leyte.

During the kick-off activity, the employees cheered for their teammates and motivated each other to put forth their best efforts, creating a positive and lively atmosphere.

In addition to enhancing teamwork and camaraderie, the tournament served as a platform for employees to acquaint themselves with one another outside of the workplace.
