TACLOBAN CITY— The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) expands prevention of slip, slope collapse, and landslide along Leyte-Samar Road (via Guintigui-an) through the rehabilitation of certain road sections completed on July 14, 2024.

The P11.3-million project, sourced from the 2024 General Appropriations Act, addresses the vulnerability of certain areas to slips, slope collapses, and landslides to ensure the welfare of all road users.

The rehabilitation covers the reblocking of the existing concrete road, covering a total length of 299 meters, to increase its durability and longevity. Additionally, a total length of 245 meters of stone masonry slope protection was included to prevent the onset of landslides within the area.

“With the completion of this project, we significantly reduce the risks associated with slips, slope collapses, and landslides. This helps prevent further damage to the roads and ensures the safety of all motorists who rely on this road,” said District Engineer Rebecca G. Yuse.

This rehabilitation not only strengthens the road’s structural integrity but also enhances travel conditions for everyone using the Leyte-Samar route, providing a safer and more efficient travel experience. —
