TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the region has delivered a total of P44.85 million worth in humanitarian assistance to six provinces impacted by Severe Tropical Storm ‘Kristine.’
Regional Director Grace Subong reported that the support includes 8,430 family food packs and 842 non-food items, which have been distributed to 23,887 affected families across 1,208 barangays in the region.
Subong also noted that the agency currently has P96.45 million in available resources to provide additional assistance as needed by local governments.
Furthermore, DSWD Field Office 8 continues to collaborate with other local government units (LGUs) affected by the storm to ensure a coordinated response.
As of the latest update on Sunday, the agency remains on high alert following the departure of Tropical Storm Kristine from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), while Tropical Storm Leon has now entered the PAR.
