TACLOBAN CITY – The Eastern Visayas booth was adjudged as the champion at the recently-held Travel Tour Expo 2023.
The booth was designed by the award-winning artists Nick and Daniel Guarino of the Festivali Designs and Concept.
The booth from Mimaropa region was named as second runner-up while that of Malay, Aklan was third place.
Showcased in the booth designed by the Guarinos were the region’s top tourist destinations.
These include the “infinite escapes” of Eastern Visayas which Kalanggaman, Canigao, Limasawa, Biri, San Pablo, Cuatro Islas, Calicoan, Sambawan, Torpedo Boat Ride, San Juanico Cruises, among others, that were identified for “revenge travel” by some of the top travel experts and influencers of the country.
The participation of the four tour operators in the expo helped to widen their market and leads that is good for the revival of the tourism industry of the region after being greatly affected not only by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic but also by the series of typhoons that hit the region in the past three years.
The event was sponsored by the Department of Tourism, Tourism Promotions Board, Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, Union bank, Philippine Airlines, Airswift, United Airlines, PLDT. Hotel 101, Israel Land of Creation, and Jinjianh Inn Philippines, together with media outlet CNN Philippines, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Philippine Star, The Foreign Post, Travel Update Philippines, TTG Asia, The Manila Times, and Business Mirror.
Held in SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, the expo was participated by over 300 exhibitors with around 700 booths which included airline companies, travel agencies and tour operators, accommodation facilities and resorts, food providers, travel agencies, and cruise liners. (ROEL T. AMAZONA)
