ORMOC CITY– The dead body of a man was found in a rice field in San Miguel, Leyte on Saturday (Oct.14), already in a state of decomposition.

The local police said that the cause of death of the victim, Medico Patindol, 86, could be due to heat stroke.

Town police chief, Major Ronald Espina, said in an interview that the old man, said to be suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, went out of their house in Barangay Libtong last October 12 without the knowledge of his family.

However, on Saturday afternoon, a neighbor was stunned to see the dead body of the victim in the rice field, already in a state of decomposition.

The cadaver of the victim was brought to a local funeral parlor for a post-mortem examination. (ROBERT DEJON)
