ORMOC CITY-Authorities are conducting an investigation into the death of a farmer who was found floating lifeless in a canal at around 8 am on Saturday, December 28, at Kristina Heights, Barangay 71 Naga-Naga, Tacloban City.
The victim, identified as alias “Athan,” a 47, and a resident of the same barangay, was discovered in a prone position inside the canal.
According to police reports, an ice cream vendor identified as alias “Jun,” 39, a resident of Brgy.71, personally reported the discovery of the lifeless body to Police Station 2.
Responding officers verified the report and secured the scene for investigation.
The Tacloban City Forensic Unit was immediately called to process the crime scene. The victim’s body was later taken to a local funeral parlor for further examination and will be returned to his family.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of death and are continuing their investigation to rule out foul play or other possible circumstances surrounding the incident. (ROBERT DEJON)
