CATARMAN, Northern Samar-The Provincial Agriculture Office of Northern Samar collaborated with national government agencies in relaunching the Kadiwa ng Pangulo at the Catarman Freedom Park on April 3.
Vicente Palma, the President of the McKinley Integrated Diversified Organic Farming System Farmers Association (MIDOFASFA), expressed his appreciation to the government-run Kadiwa as they can directly sell their farm produce to consumers.
“Nalilipay ako nga naimbitaran sini nga Kadiwa ng Pangulo kay nababaligya namon amon produkto sa maupay nga presyo kay kon ikadto na sa merkado barato la an pagpalit,” he said.
(I am pleased to be invited to the Kadiwa ng Pangulo because we can sell our products at reasonable prices, so when consumers go to the market, they can buy them at an affordable price.)
Local farmers will receive higher prices for their produce, including grains, vegetables, and native delicacies. This will benefit farmers and the public, as fresh produce is available at lower prices.
In a message conveyed through Board Member Leonida Laodenio, Gov. Edwin Marino Ongchuan expressed his appreciation to the farmers and producers for their contribution to ensuring the daily availability of food for the local communities.
The governor also assured his support for the president’s Kadiwa program and encouraged the communities to continue farming to help the provincial government with its food sufficiency and security program.
In July 2023, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited Northern Samar to launch the Kadiwa ng Pangulo at the capitol covered court in Catarman.
The local farmers’ associations from the municipalities of Catarman, Mondragon, Gamay, Lavezares, Allen, Lope de Vega, Laoang, San Roque, and Palapag attended the relaunch of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo.
