MATAG-OB, Leyte-The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Leyte 4th District Engineering Office (DEO), led by OIC – District Engineer Rosita A. Tinawin and Assistant District Engineer Peter Scheler V. Soco, conducted an outreach program to three schools in Matag-ob, Leyte which are situated in remote/depressed areas on Monday, July 15, 2024. This initiative is part of the nationwide campaign of the District Engineers League of the Philippines (DELP) titled: “Gamit Pang-eskwela, Handog ay Saya”, now on its eighth year.
Timed perfectly with the upcoming school opening on July 29, 2024, the office through the outreach program distributed a variety of school supplies, including backpacks, notebooks, and writing materials as well as other essential items like umbrellas, raincoats, slippers, lunchboxes, and tumblers. The children were also provided with snacks and food packs during the activity.
The selected schools, each benefitting from the program, were Cambadbad Elementary School headed by Ms. Gloria Elaine P. Marquez with 60 students, San Dionesio Elementary School led by Mr. Jimmy D. Montealto with 59 students, and Naulayan Elementary School under the guidance of Ms. Jona Labartine educating 107 students. All three schools cater to students from kindergarten to Grade 6. (PR)
