ALBUERA, Leyte-As part of the 126th anniversary celebration of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Leyte 4th District Engineering Office (DEO) participated in a nationwide simultaneous tree planting activity on Friday, June 7, 2024 in Brgy. Calingatnan, Albuera, Leyte.
OIC-Assistant District Engineer Peter Scheler V. Soco reported that the DEO planted a total of 200 Toog seedlings in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO). “This activity also aligns with the observance of Philippine Arbor Day,” he stated.
OIC-District Engineer Rosita A. Tinawin indicated the broader impacts of the initiative with regards to combatting climate change, improving air quality, providing habitat for wildlife, and preventing soil erosion and flooding. “By participating in this nationwide activity, we are investing in a sustainable future for our community and our planet,” she remarked. “We take pride in this endeavor, knowing that our actions today will yield benefits for generations to come.” (PR)
