ORMOC CITY– A motorcycle driver is in critical condition after he was stabbed by his drinking buddy in sitio Capion, Barangay San Sebastian, Matag-ob, Leyte.
The victim was identified as alias “Jun”, 28, driver, and a resident of Brgy. Poblacion of the said town while the suspect was known as alias “Jon-Jon” a construction worker, and a resident of Brgy. Cambinoy, Palompon, Leyte.
Initial investigation conducted by the local police disclosed that at about 9:40 am, the victim and the suspect were having a drinking session in a store in the barangay when a heated argument ensued between them.
The argument, according to witnesses, resulted in a fistfight.
The police added that during their fistfight, the suspect pulled out from his waist a short-bladed weapon called “kutsilyo,” and stabbed the victim once hitting the right back
The victim was immediately brought to the Ormoc District Hospital for immediate medical treatment, while the suspect immediately fled after the incident.
Elements of Matag-ob municipal police station conducted a follow-up investigation and hot pursuit operation for the possible arrest of the fleeing suspect but failed to arrest the suspect.
The local police said that the family of the victim is asking for financial support for the victim because he will undergo a procedure since his kidney was wounded from the stabbing.
