TACLOBAN CITY- Mayor Cristina Gonzales Romualdez, this city, appealed to educators to “teach young Taclobanons to fear God, be a law abiding citizens and enrich their minds – infuse their hearts with love & concern for those who have less in life”. The city chief executive made this appeal during the 41st founding anniversary of the Department of Education(DepEd) in the region held on Tuesday (July 12, 2016) at Patio Victoria where she the guest of honor and keynote speaker.
The mayor said that she salutes the teachers for their devotion to their profession as she urged them to continue to help the youth. “Together we can make this city and our region- in spite of the disaster that befell us – a place with contented people, we are survivors and we prevailed,” Mayor Romualdez said. “The world recognizes this and prays with us that our patience- our endurance will infect all others who may suffer, heaven forbid! – What we had gone through,” she added. Mayor Romualdez acknowledges the role of teachers in education, in molding the minds and hearts of our students which entails a lot of tireless, enduring and back-breaking service. According to her, education is one of the most vital agencies in our society. Education is the best equalizer; an educated person – no matter how poor his/her humble beginnings can be equal with those born rich and powerful.
For sharing her experiences, expertise, time, effort and inspiration to DepEd family during their 41st founding anniversary as keynote speaker, Mayor Romualdez was accorded a recognition of certification, on top of a special award also given as an outstanding stakeholder for incessantly providing assistance to the DepEd -8 in the implementation of its programs and projects, particularly the K to 12 Senior High School.
