TACLOBAN CITY- City Mayor Alfred Romualdez was granted an authority to enter into an agreement with the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) and Relief International for the implementation of water sanitation and hygiene activities at the said school. EVSU was designated by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council or CDRRMC as one of the city’s evacuation centers in times of calamities and emergencies. The need for the implementation of water, sanitation, and hygiene concerns at EVSU as an evacuation center was the reason of the council for it to immediately authorize Mayor Romualdez to enter a memorandum of agreement with EVSU and Relief International. Relief International will provide the city government the assistance in the rehabilitation and repair of identified wash related facilities subject to availability of funds. It will also provide technical support in sanitation and hygiene activities. Among its assistance during disasters, Relief International provides water and sanitation programming, providing communities with access to clean water, decreasing the incidence of communicable diseases, and improving quality of life.
