TACLOBAN CITY- Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez lead in the distribution of financial assistance to more than 250 workers who benefited under the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) and Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) held on Thursday (July 1) at the City Engineer’s Office gymnasium.
Among those who joined the city mayor during the simple pay-out ceremony was Regional Director Henry John Jalbuena of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE -8).
Around P1.2 million was allocated for the CAMP, wherein 257 workers in private establishments benefitted from the said program.
Each received a one-time financial aid equivalent to P5,000. The allocation is pursuant to the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2).
Meantime, a check, amounting to P243,750, was handed over to barangay chairwoman Melba Villalino, on behalf of the 50 TUPAD worker-beneficiaries of Brgy. 89 during the ceremonial payout held at the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) Gym.
The beneficiaries will be receiving a total salary of P4,875— for their 15-day community maintenance work—which was funded through the efforts of the Majority Floor Leader and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez and Tingog party-list Rep. Yedda Romualdez.
Also present during the turnover of wages was PESO Manager Emilia Cruz together with representatives from the Department of Tourism and Tingog Sinirangan party-list.
