TACLOBAN CITY– The Miss Universe Philippines welcomes another accredited partner, the Miss Universe Philippines- Kananga, its third in the region.

Shamcey Supsup Lee, the national director of the Miss Universe Philippines, was present in the contract signing for the new partnership on October 18.

“A warm welcome to our accredited partner for Kananga, April Tanhueco! April is a graduate of Mass Communications from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and is (the) Kananga Tourism Officer, entrepreneur, model, and a former Miss Manila— a perfect fit for Miss Universe Philippines,” she said, describing the brains behind their new local partner.

Tanhueco, for her part, said that they pushed for the accreditation of Kananga because they wanted to further promote their municipality.

The municipality is the geothermal capital of Asia and is the richest municipality in Eastern Visayas.

The town will hold its Miss Universe-Kananga this December.

Meanwhile, Supsup-Lee said that Miss Universe Philippines continues on its mission to reach out to communities all over the country to give equal opportunities to future queens who may need support to reach the national level.

Supsup-Lee was the country’s representative to the Miss Universe 2011 held in Sao Paolo, Brazil where she landed as third runner-up.
