ORMOC CITY-A motorcyclist died on the spot following a collision with a utility van along the national highway in Barangay Calaguise, Leyte, Leyte on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024, at approximately 7 am.
Police identified the victim as “Aries,” a 34-year-old resident of Barangay 103, Palanog, Tacloban City. He was driving a Honda XRM 125 motorcycle. The utility van driver, identified as “Elson,” a 44-year-old resident of Barangay Hibacungan, Tabango, Leyte, was unharmed in the incident.
Initial investigations revealed that the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions. Upon reaching the accident site, the motorcycle allegedly encroached into the opposite lane, resulting in a collision with the van. The impact caused the motorcycle to crash onto the pavement.
The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries, leading to his immediate death at the scene.
The victim’s body was brought to a local funeral parlor in Barangay San Roque, Biliran, for a post-mortem examination.
