Miss Ormoc and Miss Pintados 2023
TACLOBAN CITY- In glittering ceremonies, new beauty queens were separately declared on Friday (June 24) night.
In Ormoc City, Shaan Morata bested 19 other candidates to bag this year’s Miss Ormoc title while Kathreen Kaye Dacanay of Borongan City was crowned as the new Miss Pintados while Czarynna Kwen Cascayan of Paranas, Samar was crowned as the Miss Teen Pintados.
Morata will represent Ormoc City in next year’s Miss Grand Philippines with her first runner up, Monette Mangcal, to compete for the 2024 Mutya ng Pilipinas as the city’s representative.
By winning this year’s title, Morata won P100,000 cash and a crown valued at P50,000.
Also named in the winning circle were Apryl Siaboc as second runner-up; Rio Anne Ronato, 3rd runner-up; and Rafa Fernandez, fourth runner-up.
All received cash prizes.
The Miss Ormoc 2023, held at its superdome before a sell-out crowd, was hosted by James Daiken and Iza Calzado with one of the country’s most popular and winning actors, Piolo Pascual as the main guest.
Both Leyte Rep. Richard Gomez and City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez expressed their gratitude for the public support of the pageant, held as part of the highlights of the city’s fiesta which give honor to its patron saints, Sts. Peter and Paul.
Sen. Imee Marcos also graced the occasion.
Meantime, Dacanay of Borongan City and Cascayan of Paranas, Samar were crowned as this year’s Miss Pintados and Miss Teen Pintados, respectively held at the Leyte Academic Center in PALO,Leyte.
Dacanay was crowned by Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla, Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol, and Miss Pintados 2022 Kisha Honey Panis.
Aside from winning the fast track award, she also bagged the Miss Pepsi, Miss TnT, and Best in Swimsuit, special awards.
As winner of Miss Pintados 2023, Dacanay will represent the region at the Miss World Philippines national pageant next year.
Other winners in this year’s Miss Pintados include 1st runner-up Bianca Cassandra Devora of Tacloban City who also won the Beauty with a Purpose fast track award giving her an automatic spot in the top eight, and special awards Miss Sukwan, Best in Evening Gown, and Best in Pintados Costume; Marie Jean Baquilod of Llorente as second runner-up, Jhyry-Ross Yboa of Catbalogan City as third runner-up who also bagged the best in cultural costume award which gives her an automatic spot in top eight, and Justine Casinillo of Bato, Leyte, fourth place.
Shaira Jubelle Torbeles of Marabut, Samar was awarded Miss Congeniality, Jamby Belegorio of Villareal, also in Samar, for Netizen Choice.
Meanwhile, the new Miss Teen Pintados was crowned by Palo Mayor Remedios Petilla, Pintados Foundation president Eugene Tan, and Miss Teen Pintados 2022 Margarette Nicole Odiver.
Aside from bagging the crown, Cascayan also bagged the Best in Pintados Costume award.
Her court include Cstar Estelle Capon of Alangalang, Leyte as first runner-up and also won the fast track award Most Popular Candidate and corporate award Miss TnT.
Second runner-up is Catherine Wardle of Catbalogan City, while Charis Jane Jayma of Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte who also bagged the Face of Pintados Beauty award, and Phoebe Arriane Torita of Tabango, Leyte in fourth runner-up and also won Miss Goldilocks.
