ORMOC CITY-Local police continued their crackdown on illegal drugs, apprehending a newly identified drug suspect during a buy-bust operation at about 5:05 pm on July 26, in Barangay Cambalading, Albuera,Leyte.

Albuera Chief of Police Cpt. Julio Tamayo identified the suspect as Zellan Roca, alias “Nizan,” 40, single, unemployed, and a resident of said village.

The suspect is listed as a street-level individual on their drug watchlist.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession was one sachet containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, procured by an operative for P500.

During a body search conducted in the presence of an elected official and a representative from the local media, the searching officer found a plastic container in the suspect’s pocket.
The container held 14 additional sachets containing the same white crystalline substance, also suspected to be shabu, with an estimated weight of 1.17 grams and a street value of P8,000.

The suspect admitted ownership of all the recovered illegal drugs, stating that the items were delivered to him by a friend from Ormoc City for repacking.

However, he did not disclose the identity of his supplier, saying the items were just delivered to his house.

Charges for violation of RA 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, have been filed at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against the suspect, who is temporarily detained at the Albuera Municipal Police Station.
