NSSDEO, Brgy. Burabud, Laoang, Northern Samar – The Holiday season has arrived early in Northern Samar province with the splendid opening of “Karibhungan sa Pasko 2024” and about 14 agencies participated, including the Department of Public Works and Highways Northern Samar Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-NSSDEO), which took place at the Capitol Grounds, Barangay Dalakit, Catarman, Northern Samar.
The event’s opening/ceremonial light up and initial judging was held last November 9, 2024, Saturday. All the entries were displayed around the Capitol Grounds at Brgy. Dalakit, Catarman, Northern Samar.
This yearly festive celebration of the Provincial Government of Northern Samar was the initiative of Governor Edwin Marino C. Ongchuan. It was attended by Vice Governor Clarence E. Dato, Congressman Harris Christopher M. Ongchuan, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members, representatives of participating agencies, Department Heads, and with the distinguished guest, NEA Administrators Antonio Mariano Almeda, Department of Tourism, Region 8, Regional Director Karina Tiopes and other panel of judges.
As this year theme, “Christmas is celebrated all over the world”, NSSDEO was assigned to show the traditions and customs based on different cultural background of the country of Morocco. Part of the nightly shows are games prepared for the kids with corresponding prizes.
Each agency created and were assigned carnival display complete with props and Christmas lights. Part of the show was also the first ever Karibhungan sa Pasko Electric Float Parade which depicted favorite destinations – Disneyland, Hollywood, Japan, Antarctica and Europe.
The festivity can be enjoyed and viewed nightly from November 9 up to January 6, 2025, from 6pm-12 midnight. (PR)
