TACLOBAN CITY– The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) conducted a blessing and turnover ceremony for newly issued vehicles and ordnance on September 16, 2024, at the PRO 8 grandstand at Camp Ruperto K. Kangleon, Palo, Leyte.

The event was led by Police Regional Director, B/Gen. Reynaldo Pawid, alongside Education Sec. Juab Edgardo ‘Sonny’ Angara’s representative, Rhom Armel Frias.

Items blessed and officially turned over included three units of light transport vehicles (Toyota Innova), four units of personnel carrier 4×4 (Isuzu D-Max), one unit of patrol jeep, 21 light motorcycles, and 150 units of basic assault rifle (BAR) Galil Ace.

The newly acquired vehicles and ordnance are expected to enhance PRO-8’s operational capabilities in maintaining public safety and order throughout Eastern Visayas, strengthening police presence and response in the region.

The event was also graced by Mayors Benedicta Tiaozon of San Francisco, Southern Leyte and Benjamin Ver of Jipapad, Eastern Samar.

Several key officials from PRO-8 were also in attendance, including Col Salvador Alacyang, acting deputy regional director for administration; Col. Matthew Aseo, chief of the regional staff; and Rev. Fr. Major Rhey Dollesin, regional pastoral officer, among others.
