ORMOC CITY– Police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the identity of both the victim and the suspect involved in a fatal shooting incident that occurred around 3:30 pm on Monday, October 7, along the barangay road of Zone 1, Barangay Canhidoc, Palo, Leyte.

The victim, whose identity remains unknown, was described as having gray hair, standing about 5’4” tall, and wearing a white t-shirt and maong pants. The victim also had a leaf tattoo on the lower right arm and tribal tattoos on both shoulders.

According to witnesses, the suspect, also unidentified, was a male wearing a black jacket and black shorts, riding a black Mio-type motorcycle.

Police were alerted to the incident around 4 pm by a Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) personnel.

Responding officers confirmed the shooting and found the victim lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim and the suspect were both riding a single motorcycle from Brgy. Cangumbang.

Upon reaching Brgy. Canhidoc, the victim disembarked for an unknown reason. Without warning, the suspect shot the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene on the motorcycle.

Police immediately launched a hot pursuit operation and coordinated with nearby police stations to set up a dragnet to capture the suspect.
