TACLOBAN CITY- Illegally sawn forest products were recovered in an anti-illegal logging operation on October 13, 2024, along Km 20, Km 21, and Km 22 in Barangay Happy Valley, San Isidro, Northern Samar.

Police Lt. Col. Antonio Montaño, officer-in-charge of the San Isidro police said that a total of 299 pieces of Lawaan lumber, cut into various sizes and amounting to 2,453 board feet with an estimated value of P117,650 were recovered at the site.

The seized forest products were turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Montaño urged the public to refrain from engaging in illegal activities, highlighting that such actions not only threaten natural resources but also exacerbate the effects of climate change.

“We will continue to collaborate with other concerned agencies to protect our forests and ensure that those responsible for these crimes are held accountable,” the town police said. (LIZBETH ANN A. ABELLA)
