TACLOBAN CITY — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) successfully completes an asphalt overlay project for the Apitong-Paterno Road on July 6, 2024, offering a safer and more convenient route for its users.
The P7.1-million project, funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act, covered the application of asphalt over the existing four-lane concrete pavement spanning 218 meters. This upgrade addresses issues such as cracks, potholes, and uneven road surfaces, ensuring a smoother and more durable roadway.
District Engineer Rebecca G. Yuse highlighted the importance of this project as a preventive measure to reduce long-term road damage, significantly improving the durability of the infrastructure while prioritizing public safety. “This project not only strengthens road quality but also enhances safety and driving convenience for all road users.”
The improved road is expected to benefit both residents and local businesses, enabling faster and safer transportation. Besides enhancing public safety, the project aims to promote economic growth by improving connectivity for the movement of goods and services.
