TACLOBAN CITY – Women from various government agencies gathered for the All-Women Inter-Agency Friendly Games hosted by the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) at Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte, on March 19, 2025.

The event kicked off with a Zumba session, energizing the participants for a day of teamwork and friendly competition.

Police Regional Director B/Gen.Jay Cumigad led the oath of sportsmanship, emphasizing respect, solidarity, and fair play.

A total of 142 women from PRO-8, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) joined the event.

Assistant City Prosecutor Regina Paredes-Elizarde, the event’s guest of honor and speaker, commended PRO-8’s efforts in fostering inter-agency collaboration through sports, recognizing women’s resilience in balancing careers, family, and personal growth.

The games were held at two venues: basketball and volleyball matches at the PRO-8 Caboboy Gym showcased participants’ athleticism and teamwork while the “Laro ng Lahi” at the PRO-8 grounds revived traditional Filipino games such as tug of war, catch the dragon’s tail, and basag-palayok, highlighting both competition and cultural heritage.

The PRO-8 ‘Juanas’ emerged victorious in basketball and volleyball, with Pat. Charisse Tequillo and Pat. Charmaine Callosa named most valuable players.

BJMP dominated tug of war and basag-palayok, while AFP won catch the dragon’s tail.
The event concluded with strengthened camaraderie and a renewed commitment to women’s empowerment, celebrating unity, teamwork, and resilience.
