CATARMAN, Northern Samar– The provincial government here through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office sent immediate relief to victims of flooding in the municipalities of Catubig and Lope de Vega, due to heavy and continuous rains from an extended low pressure area (LPA) which affected the province and the Eastern Visayas region in the past days.
Two thousand fifty (2,050) food packs were transported on January 11 to Catubig and Lope de Vega, as part of the initial relief operations of the Provincial Government at the directive of Governor Edwin Ongchuan.
As early as January 9, 2023, provincial social welfare and development officer Jenny Darish already activated PSWDO’s Disaster Response and Management Team as part of the preparedness and response efforts of the Provincial Government.
Alongside PSWDO, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) also conducted rescue and retrieval operations with reports of flooding in many areas of Northern Samar.
Meantime, the PSWDO is set to continue its relief operations in the coming days. (PR)
