TACLOBAN CITY-The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in the region continues its information campaign regarding the acceptance of PhilIDs and ePhilIDs as valid proof of identity in all transactions.

During the May 1, 2024 Labor Day job fair and ‘Kadiwa ng Pangulo’ event organized by the Department of Labor and Employment regional office, Marife Molon, PSA-8 registration officer and PhilSys regional focal person, spearheaded another information drive.

The audience, estimated at 4,000 individuals from various regional government line agencies, relying parties, business owners, job seekers, and beneficiaries of different DOLE RO8 programs, were engaged.

Molon elaborated on the features of PhilIDs and ePhilIDs, emphasizing their utility in all transactions to enable registered individuals immediate access to PhilSys benefits, including improved employment, financial, and social protection services.

Both government and private sectors were reminded of the provisions of RA 11055, or the PhilSys Act, particularly regarding penalties for non-acceptance of PhilSys IDs as valid proof of identity.

Failure to accept these IDs without sufficient or just cause carries a fine of P500,000.
The general public was also urged to report any agencies or private sectors engaging in such practices to the Fraud and Management Division (FMD) of PSA, where reports will be handled with utmost concern.
