ORMOC CITY-The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) together with the local police successfully dismantled a drug den in Hilongos, Leyte on Saturday (Oct.14).
The drug den was allegedly owned by Jaime Nierras, 48, and his siblings Gerryl,38, and Gerry,44, and is located in Purok Kape, Barangay Talisay.
Also arrested during the operation at about 8:30 pm were Marvin Tipay, 50; John Rey Vilbar, 24; Alberto Zarco, 28; Romeo Cortez,56; Melvin Fornis,30; and Myra Garrido,31. All were suspected to be also involved in the illegal drugs.
Lawyer Gil Pabilona, PDEA regional director, said that the target of the operation was Jaime Nierras.
Recovered from the suspects were 11 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 50 grams and with a commercial value of P340,000.
Charges of violations of Section 5 (selling illegal drugs) and 11 (possession of illegal drugs) of Article II of RA 9165, Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002, were filed against the suspects who are temporarily detained at the locked-up cell of the Hilongos municipal police station.(ROBERT DEJON)
