TACLOBAN CITY- To keep Tacloban’s youths preoccupied this summer season, the City Sports Office will offer summer game events through the Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez (MCGR) Summer Sports Clinic 2017.
In an interview, Mayor Cristina Romualdez said that indulging the city’s youths in sports will help them develop sportsmanship and self-discipline.
It will likewise eradicate bad vices among them, she said.
“We encourage our youths to join this summer sports clinic,” the city mayor said.
Among its summer sports clinic, which is available for free, includes dance sports, table tennis, badminton, and karatedo.
While, basketball, swimming, and taekwondo will entail a minimal fee to cover for its venue fee, student handbook, uniform / printed T-shirt, certificate, and medals.
For dance sports, it will be from April 10 to May 19, 2017 (18 sessions) Monday-Wednesday-Friday (MWF) 9:00 am to 11:30 am. at the Tacloban City Convention Center or astrodome.

Dance sports is a competitive ballroom dancing, as contrasted to social and exhibition dancing.
Table tennis is to start April 10 to May 17 (15 sessions) MWF 1:00 pm. – 4:30pm.still at astrodome. Interested youth aged 7 to 16 years old.
For karatedo, it will begin its sports clinic on April 3 to May 17, 2017 (Morning session – MWF 10 am. – 11:30 Am.; TThS 10 am. – 11:30 Am.; afternoon class clinic every TTHS 2:30 pm. to 4 pm. and M-F 4:30 pm. to 6:00pm.
And for badminton, the summer clinic will kick off April 3 to May 17, 2017 (20 sessions) every MWF 9:30 am – 11:30 am. and 2 pm to 4 pm. at ACLC and Astrodome.
Meanwhile, basketball, swimming, and taekwondo will entail minimal registration fee says City Sports Office head Joel Bugho in an interview to cover uniform, sports facilities & etc.
MCGR Basketball sports clinic, a fee of P1,200 will be collected to cover certificates, basketball, basketball jersey and ball bag.
Its schedule will be on April 3 – May 14, 2017 (14 sessions) every weekend 9 am. to 11 am. and 1 pm. to 3 pm. at the CEO Gym/Astrodome.
Guest trainor is Joey Mente (ABL Import Indonesia) will handle the sports clinic.
While, MCGR swimming summer sports clinic for 7 to 12 years of age, the sports clinic will start on April 3 to May 18 (10 sessions) every Tuesday & Thursday 7:30 am. to 9:30 am at Patio Victoria Swimming Pool.
For a fee of P2, 000 per registrant to cover pool fee, swimmers enrolled will get printed T-shirt, certificate, and medal.
Lastly, MCGR taekwondo sports clinic will start April 5 to May 13, 2017 with the following schedule: MWF &TThS 9 am. to 11 am. and 1 pm. to 3 pm.
From Monday-Friday for advanced classes 3 pm. to 5 pm. at the astrodome with a P3,500 registration fee.
CSO head Joel Bugho encourages interested youth to register early as it is on a first come first serve basis.
