ORMOC CITY– A 19-year-old student was arrested by local authorities following the issuance of a warrant of arrest for the crimes of rape and violation of Republic Act 7610, the law protecting women and children against abuse, exploitation, and discrimination.
The arrest occurred at around 11:00 am on January 20, 2025, in Barangay San Miguel, Tanauan town.
Police identified the accused as alias “Sony,” single, and a resident of Brgy. Bangon of said town.
The arrest was made based on a warrant of arrest dated January 16, 2025, issued by Judge Avelino Decoroso Basco, presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 34, Tacloban City.
The court recommended a bail of P10, 000 for the violation of RA 7610; however, no bail was set for the rape charge.
