TACLOBAN CITY-The Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO), in collaboration with the District Engineers League of the Philippines (DELP), has awarded a full scholarship to Darlene S. Monge, a student aspiring to become a licensed civil engineer.
The scholarship was announced during the TCDEO’s flag-raising ceremony on August 12, 2024.
Darlene S. Monge, daughter of Ms. Alma S. Monge from the Supply Unit under Administrative Section, is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program at Eastern Visayas State University, Main Campus.
This initiative is part of the TCDEO-DELP’s commitment to support the education of students from underprivileged backgrounds who aim to pursue a career in civil engineering.
The scholarship package includes a monthly stipend throughout the student’s academic journey. Furthermore, the scholarship provides the grantee with the opportunity to serve the TCDEO upon passing the licensure examination for civil engineers.
“Our partnership with DELP is a significant step toward helping students from marginalized families achieve their dream of becoming civil engineers,” said Rebecca G. Yuse, District Engineer and DELP-NEB Associate Representative for Visayas. “This scholarship not only supports individual aspirations but also contributes to addressing the shortage of civil engineers in our country.”
