ORMOC CITY– A farmer listed as one of the top 10 most wanted persons in Leyte was arrested by a composite tracker team in Barangay Calbugos, Villaba, on January 20, at around 11:00 am.
The arrest was carried out by personnel from the Villaba Municipal Police Station (MPS), the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), the 2nd Leyte Provincial Mobile Force Company (LPMFC), the Regional Special Operations Task Group (RSOTG) Leyte, and the 805th Mobile Company.
Villaba Chief of Police, Major Salvador Ian Po, identified the accused as alias “Reynaldo,” 49, a farmer residing in Barangay Calbugos.
The arrest was made by virtue of a warrant of arrest dated January 25, 2024, issued by Judge Dexter Lazarte Aguilar of the Regional Trial Court-Branch 17, Palompon, Leyte.
The accused is charged with frustrated murder. The court has set bail at P120,000 for his temporary release.
The case stemmed from an altercation involving the accused and the victim over an old grudge, which escalated and resulted in the victim sustaining injuries.
The accused was informed of the nature of his arrest and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language he understood, following the Miranda Doctrine. He was subsequently brought to the Villaba MPS for documentation and proper disposition prior to being turned over to the court of origin.
