TACLOBAN CITY-A woman back rider of a single motorcycle died on the spot after she was hit by a dump truck and then run over by a truck in a national highway of sitio Ansubas, Barangay Pinamopoan, Capoocan, Leyte.

The victim was identified only as a certain “Rose”, single, of legal age, and a resident of Culaba, Biliran.

The victim was back riding a single motorcycle, driven by a certain “Dino”, legal age, single, a village councilor of Barangay Poblacion, also in Culaba.

The other vehicles involved a dump truck driven by alias “Ralph” 55, a resident of Palompon, Leyte, and a drop side truck driven by alias “Roger” 48, a resident of Brgy. Barugohay of Capoocan, Leyte.

Based on the investigation conducted by responding police disclosed, the vehicles involved were traveling in the same direction, heading towards Tacloban City.

The dump truck driven by Ralph was ahead of the drop side truck driven by Roger which was followed by the single motorcycle driven by Dino.

Upon reaching the place of the incident at about 11:45 am, particularly at the sharp curve of the road, the motorcycle overtook the dump truck and then the dump truck who was also maneuvering back to his lane, the motorcycle was accidentally hit by the dump truck which caused the vehicle to tumble down to the concrete road.

The back rider of the motorcycle was thrown several meters away from the point of impact and was hit by the dump truck and then run over by the drop side truck causing her instantaneous death.

The driver of the motorcycle sustained injuries and was brought to Carigara District Hospital for medical treatment, while his back rider was brought to the Capoocan rural health unit and was declared dead on arrival by the duty medical officer.

Both drivers of the dump truck and the drop side truck and their respective vehicles were brought to Capoocan municipal police station for documentation and proper disposition.
